Matthew Ryan Portillo was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. His writing experience spans film scripts, TV pilots, commercial treatments, and story coverages for production companies. Several of his original works are currently in development.

In 2013, he was involved in writing, casting, and producing the feature film Our Boys, which premiered at the LA Latino International Film Festival in Hollywood.

He has also worked in the veterinary field, a space that continues to influence his storytelling. Animals often remind him of where we come from, what we’ve endured, and the simple truths we sometimes leave behind. That connection runs through the heart of his work.
